2012 My Creative Life Workshop – A Deeper Look

{2012} MY CREATIVE LIFE WORKSHOP | A Deeper Look – April 2012
We recently released the April 2012 MCL Workshop files to our workshop members, but I wanted to share a little information with you about this month’s amazing tutorial that’s included in the member activities and downloads this month. I think creating and effectively using drop shadows are something all of us struggle with at one time or another but I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be! This tutorial takes you DEEP into my own design techniques and I teach you how to “Create and Bend Custom Shadows”. I also show you how to quickly and easily thread items, such as ribbon and fasteners, through holes and other design elements. It’s a flawlessly perfect technique and you’ll appreciate learning how to do it.

There’s also a bonus set of goodies that compliment the article so you can follow along with my instruction and apply what you learn. For those who don’t have a {2012} My Creative Life Workshop membership yet… JOIN TODAY! I guarantee you won’t be disappointed! Here’s a look at the bonus goodies included with the workshop article this month. I actually use the techniques I teach you in the article on last week’s ScrapDelicious newsletter gift, specifically on the stitching on the “Spring” title. You’ll notice I created a custom shadow, then bent it so the pulled stitches look lifted off the page. Creating and effectively using custom shadows is an advanced technique that ALL of us need to know how to use in order to really bring our digital pages to life!

SPEAKING of the ScrapDelicious newsletter, if you’re not already a subscriber you can subscribe HERE. There is a subscription gift, and I usually create a nice gift for subscribers each week too.

MY CREATIVE LIFE WORKSHOP {2012} | A Deeper Look
Did you know our {2012} My Creative Life Workshop includes monthly articles and tutorials for programs such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and Paint Shop Pro? I thought I’d share a glimpse at one of the tutorials included in the March 2012 edition of our workshop because I’m so passionate about this particular technique. Most people would be surprised to see how easy it is to create a sketch from a photo in either black and white or with a splash of color. In this tutorial I walk you through the simple, quick, and easy steps needed to acheive just the right look. Best of all, there’s no action’s or special/expensive filters required to create this look, and you’ll learn about some of the basic filters already available to you in your graphics program! If you’re a Paint Shop Pro user (or other popular graphics programs) you’ll be able to follow along and achieve these same kinds of results in your program of choice.

If you’d like to learn how to create a black and white or color sketch from your photos, join our {2012} My Creative Life Workshop today! For those who have been wondering if they have what it takes to participate in any kind of Project 365, I employ you to consider what co-instructor Kelli recently had to say about the workshop… she pretty much sums it up for you.

“We’ve had a few people join the “My Creative Life” workshop late in the year and I’m thrilled they decided to take the jump.  I think people get intimidated by a 365 day project, thinking that there is no other way to do it than daily.  Of course, that’s not true.  You can take this workshop and mold it into anything you like.  Personally, I need to work things like this weekly.  I work full time and take care of my Granddaughter several times a week, so it’s kind of difficult for me to carve out a specific amount of time a day to do this.  Weekly, that I can manage.  I also like to work on the journaling part in the evenings when I’m sitting on the couch watching TV with the hubby.  We’re usually talking about our days anyway, so it’s a great time to jot down what’s been going on.  It doesn’t take long, I’m already relaxing and I don’t forget anything.  Later on I might transfer the journaling to something a little more “pretty,” but it’s on paper, safe and sound.

Since I snap pictures with my phone all the time when my camera isn’t handy, I always have something to share.  That parts easy.  So by the weekend, I’ve got all the pieces of my days ready to go into whatever format I choose. Breaking up the parts of my 365 day project, it becomes so much more manageable for me.  Maybe this would work well for you too.  If you’re having trouble keeping up, try it and see how it goes.”
